You can keep your life - and change the part that’s not working

Quick takeaway: You don’t have to disappear from your life to change a behaviour that’s costing you. With discreet, clinician-led support and practical, step-by-step tools, high-performing people can regain control without sacrificing their career, relationships or reputation.
Why people who “have it together” still look for help
So many highly successful people come to The TARA Clinic wanting to solve the same problem: they want to keep their life - the work, the social standing, the fun - but stop being held back by a behaviour that’s become automatic.
That’s the tension we hear most:
-
“Will I have to change my whole life?”
-
“Will I still enjoy the new life I create?”
Short answer: No, not the whole life - only the parts that are limiting you. The work is about building practical alternatives and confidence so you choose your life, rather than being pushed around by a habit.
What the change actually looks like (not dramatic, just strategic)
Recovery at its best is stepwise and skill-based.
Think of it like learning a reliable set of skills that fit into your day. You’ll still attend events, lead teams, travel and relax. The difference is that you’ll have tools to manage pressure, boredom or social cues so those old behaviours stop being the fastest, easiest option.
Clients we work with commonly describe the change as:
-
less internal negotiation (“should I / shouldn’t I?”),
-
improved clarity in the morning, and
-
feeling free to enjoy events without being controlled by a secret routine.
Rather than promise outcomes - we create evidence-based structure, provide a specially trained clinician to guide progress, and focus on measurable goals so you can see real momentum.
Discretion matters - and it’s why online works for many people
If you’re worried about who will find out, that’s one of the reasons people choose clinician-led online care.
Online therapy and structured programs give you:
-
private, secure sessions,
-
neutral billing options, and
-
the ability to learn and practise tools without public exposure.
That doesn’t mean online is perfect for everyone - some people need medically supervised detox or inpatient care. But for high-performers who need confidentiality and flexibility, an online clinician-led program is often the most practical first step.
A real example (what this can feel like in practice)
One client described her life before the program as a constant, exhausting negotiation with alcohol. She had tried to moderate alone and felt terrified of full abstinence - but moderation had never stuck either.
After engaging in a structured online program with regular clinician contact she said she:
-
stopped feeling trapped by shame,
-
reconnected with activities she actually enjoyed, and
-
experienced the relief of making choices that supported her life goals rather than undermined them.
That kind of description is common - but it’s not the same as promising a particular result for every person. Change depends on engagement, risk level and consistent practice.
What to expect if you choose a clinician-led online pathway
A practical, typical structure you can expect:
-
a short, confidential assessment to establish suitability;
-
a highly trained clinician who walks you through your plan;
-
weekly focused sessions plus short between-session practice;
-
clear, measurable goals and regular review;
-
crisis and escalation pathways if medical support is needed.
This approach is designed for people who must balance privacy, career expectations and change - not for dramatic removal from life.
If you’re not ready for a program - here are private, practical options now
You may not be ready for a multi-week program - and that’s okay. Helpful, immediate steps include:
-
try free resources like peer groups or national helplines;
-
use short, daily experiments (name the trigger → delay → replace);
-
build one micro-ritual that replaces the old behaviour for 7 days;
-
consider a single clinician check-in to map a discreet plan.
If you’re curious about which option fits best, the quickest way to see your next step is our short Stress-Coping Reliance Assessment quiz. It’s private, fast and helps map how much you rely on mood-altering coping strategies - then points you to the supports and next steps that suit your current stage..

FAQs
Will I have to stop everything I enjoy?
No. The work is about replacing the parts that limit you and learning skills that let you enjoy life without the secret cost. You keep what matters - you remove what’s working against you.
Is online treatment private enough for high-profile people?
Yes - clinician-led online programs can provide secure, confidential care, neutral billing and flexible scheduling to fit a high-pressure life.
What if I need medical support for withdrawal?
If medical detox is needed, online outpatient care alone may not be enough. A reputable clinic will assess risk and arrange safe, in-person care if needed.

So many highly successful people come to The TARA Clinic wanting to know how to overcome substance use and addiction, reach their goals, and live their full, rich and meaningful life. They come to us because we're known for providing expert and non judgemental addiction support, using practical strategies in a completely discreet way. Yet, I find there are two things that people are often unsure of when they first speak to us: 1. Will I need to change my whole life, and will I still enjoy the new life that I'm going to have? Listen, we get it. You're used to being the life of the party and the, the person that everyone looks up to, and the idea of change can feel uncomfortable or maybe even scary. One of our former clients remembered the constant struggle between how she wanted her life to look versus what her reality looked like. She wanted to feel healthy, fulfilled. Instead, she was struggling with constant feelings of shame and anxiety because of her relationship with alcohol. Now. Before the Tara clinic, she tried to moderate her drinking on her own. She said that the idea of completely abstaining felt oddly horrifying, yet she found that she was never able to maintain this change. She said that she would inevitably wind up feeling hopeless, depressed, and repeating the same cycle of addiction because she realized that she had this deep seated belief that alcohol was the only way to experience fun, relax, or fit in. Do you resonate with her? Maybe you're worried about what people will think of you when you're different at events, or will someone find out that you're getting help. now, An ancient Greek philosopher famously said, the only constant in life is change, so whether you like it or not, you're always changing. The important thing to remember is your actions dictate what direction your change flows. If we passively let our environment dictate our life, then we're controlled by the people around us and their choices. When we actively choose to direct our life, taking considered action and building momentum, then you're only limited by your ambition. When it comes to others finding out whether or not you're seeking help. That's where the Tara Clinic shines. You can be as discreet as you want with our treatment because we're 100% online. Now, our previous client was really, really grateful that they completed the Empowered Recovery program in 2022. They don't feel like they're in a constant negotiation with themself anymore, and instead, they feel like they're able to find the things that they enjoy and to connect with the things that they want to do. Now, she didn't want to paint a picture of perfection because sobriety, for her, hasn't been about that. She's realised that her life now is about having the power to show up to all of life's challenges in an open way and ready to take it all on. She said, now that alcohol isn't a roadblock in her life anymore, there is so much that's possible. She said that the recovery program has been such an important and valuable thing in her life, and she's so grateful that she invested her time, finances, and hopes and dreams into. Now the truth is, you may not be ready for our journey, and that's okay. There's plenty of free resources available, such as smart Recovery meetings or the alcohol and Drug Information Service line. Plus, online outpatient treatment, such as what we provide, might not be right for you either. It might not be intensive enough or restrictive enough. And if that's the case, then an inpatient option would probably work better. But people who are really successful in their life who are also secretly struggling with an addiction and feel alone despite being surrounded by people often forget that when they're empowered with the right information in a supported way, they make incredible things happen. So if you recognise yourself in this and know that all you need is the right information to be able to make incredible things happen, then book a call with us now and find out how good life can really be when you're in control of your choices.
