Maya Rutnam

Addiction is often stigmatised, which can deter people from seeking out treatment. This leads to people not knowing their worth or fulfilling their full potential. I have seen that addiction doesn't discriminate, and that we all have the capacity to do great things! With support, it can just make the journey a little easier.

I offer guidance by helping you to understand how what may have happened in the past has led to where you are now, and offer you strategies that will help to get you to where you'd like to be!

Student Counselling Session $95

Maya is a final year counselling student at Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP), with an undergraduate psychology degree, who is completing her placement.

Tara Hurster

Guilt and shame has been used as a deterrent for addiction for so long, though shame actually keeps you stuck in the addiction cycle! My aim is to help you to look at things differently.

I focus on change, rather than the problem. Using simple and practical terminology, I provide you with all the tools and strategies you need to feel confident into the future! My motivation has always been to work towards you no longer needing me, because everyone should be able to find the freedom they truly crave!

Psychologist Therapy Session $265

Tara is a Registered Psychologist with a decade of experience supporting people with substance use concerns and founded The TARA Clinic in 2017.

Veronica Greaves

Addiction can be a seductive trap that breeds guilt and blame, making people feel stuck. When life presents challenging times, adapting and finding our way through can feel really hard. Having structure and support around you can ease the process.

We are wired to connect, and I aim to help you build real connection with the things that are important to you. I enjoy working with both clients and the family of people living with addiction. I deeply admire our clients determination, grit and courage to take steps to reconnect with the world!

Our Founder

The TARA Clinic was founded by Tara Hurster, a psychologist who started working within the area of addiction in 2012. After years of extensive experience working directly with clients, Tara noticed that there was a belief that addiction treatment is one size that is meant to fit all, and she saw an alternative!

Tara understood that each client's concerns and goals regarding their treatment was unique. This drove her to create the Empowered Recovery Program, which focusses on teaching practical life skills that assist otherwise successful people to get a handle on the what, the why, the how and the next steps of addiction and its treatment. Ultimately giving clients the opportunity to Take Action, Build Resilience and Find Purpose in their lives.

We know that addiction doesn’t discriminate, so The TARA Clinic is focussed on providing support for people in high pressured positions and responsibility. By taking action to make these changes in your life, you can also stand to receive benefits in your work, relationships and EQ. So The TARA Clinic really aims to give you a positive return on your investment!
