Did you know that TARA is an acronym?
TARA stands for Therapeutic Addiction Recovery Assistance.
Unfortunately when it comes to addiction, society has long viewed it as a weakness, an illness people are powerless over, or an issue that only impacts people from lower socioeconomic spaces.
The reality is that addiction doesn't discriminate!
Unlike a number of other mental health presentations, when it comes to addiction treatment, counselling sessions are like fighting fires - while it is necessary in the moment, you can easily become overwhelmed by multiple spot fires and lose your way forward. This often results in retreat.
Whereas recovery programs are like back burning - by putting in strategic decisions and effort in a structured format early, you can reduce the intensity and likelihood of large fires in the future. Recovery programs give you back control!
You can feel confident that you will learn all the practical tools and strategies that you need to manage stress and distress. And finally you can find the freedom you truly crave!

Addiction is often stigmatised, which can deter people from seeking out treatment. This leads to people not knowing their worth or fulfilling their full potential. I have seen that addiction doesn't discriminate, and that we all have the capacity to do great things! With support, it can just make the journey a little easier!
I offer guidance by helping you to understand how what may have happened in the past has led to where you are now, and provide you with practical strategies that will help to get you to where you'd like to be!

There is so much misinformation surrounding what addiction actually is and how it can be treated, which often means it is put in the "too hard basket". This promotes the negative stigma associated with addiction and leaves you feeling isolated and confused.
My aim is to support your goal of regaining control by assisting The TARA Clinic team to provide you with the assistance that works best for you!
Olivia is studying an undergraduate degree in psychology and is looking forward to her career as a psychologist working with addiction treatment.
The TARA Clinic was founded by Tara Hurster, a psychologist who started working within the area of addiction in 2012. After years of extensive experience working directly with clients, Tara noticed that there was a belief that addiction treatment is one size that is meant to fit all, and she saw an alternative!
Tara understood that each client's concerns and goals regarding their treatment was unique. This drove her to create the Empowered Recovery Program, which focusses on teaching practical life skills that assist otherwise successful people to get a handle on the what, the why, the how and the next steps of addiction and its treatment. Ultimately giving clients the opportunity to Take Action, Build Resilience and Find Purpose in their lives.
We know that addiction doesn’t discriminate, so The TARA Clinic is focussed on providing support for people in high pressured positions and responsibility. By taking action to make these changes in your life, you can also stand to receive benefits in your work, relationships and EQ. So The TARA Clinic really aims to give you a positive return on your investment!
